Here’s my song:
Become The Braver (Remember When)
I wrote this song in the 2020 lockdowns, and shared my earlier rougher recorded version(s) of it then.
I made the above better phone ‘dem’ recording on 8 Feb 2022, and again shared it.
I want to share it again, here this time, now, because we know a lot more now than then.
Here are the words, and below the words, my chords and lyric sheet embedded as a PDF, for anyone who wants to play the song, or adapt it and share your own version of it, if you’d prefer a different version to my own. The PDF is very slightly different to the recording at the playout. Any song has a life of its own, IMHO and experience.
Become the Braver (Remember When) - by Alan Chapman
Remember when, we'd sing, and dance, and hold each other very very tight.
Every little chance we had.
Remember when, we'd kiss, we'd kiss family and friends, and hold the hands of strangers,
Before we were convinced of danger.
Remember smiles, seeing faces, ball games and races, crowds and fun to be in places any time,
The ways that we are born free, such a crazy daze.
Now what is real? The air we breathe. What to believe? The false economy of arrangers?
Before we were convinced of danger.
Now what is love and life and what convinced us? Lies about everyone and everything,
And not to question those who profit from this madness.
So sing and dance, yeah yeah yeah, and kiss and hold and smile and breathe and share this song,
And make it more and make it so we change things,
So we, become the braver.
So we, become the braver.
So we, become the braver.
