Light
And the fizzing seas...
Light
Where and how there is some light, can we let the beauty in,
And be the bold and balancing, for the healing to begin?
And where and how there is some pain, can we learn to love again,
Can we name it, not enslaved, and heal it without blame?
And what of all our ancestries, our legacies and harmonies,
And all the other energies that constitute our souls?
We swim before we’re born again, when we’re half made, or not at all,
And if we make ‘three-score and ten’ be thankful and enthralled.
We skip the edge of fizzing seas, from where we’ve grown and what we’ll be,
We sing our mantras one by one, our virtuosities.
We fly and reinvent ourselves, deny and then reject ourselves,
Our bodies keep the scores, until we’re spirits in the skies.
Where and how there is some light, can we let the beauty in,
And be the bold and balancing, for the healing to begin?
Notes
Thanks Jon for the picture of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), and for other helpfulness and kindness towards me.
This is also a song, for which the guitar chords are, for each two-line verse: Am, B7flat5, F, G, C, C/B, Am, Am/G, F, G.
The song is available free as a rough phone dem MP3 from alanchapman.com/music/.
Bessel Van Der Kolk’s brilliant 2014 book ‘The Body Keeps The Score’ is an interesting and powerful influence on this song’s emergence.
So also is the Buddhist chanting which may be used to shift realities and outcomes (‘Nam Myoho Renge Kyo’). Global peace is lovely aim for example, besides seeking personal positive transformation (health, lifestyle, freedom, etc).
Additional thanks to Molly, Sarah and Nitya, Graham, Nel, Dazza, and many more. You know who you are.
Here are details for the 37th gathering of the world-leading trauma healing conference: traumaresearchfoundation.org/lp/37th-annual-boston-trauma-conference/. Maybe this interests you personally, and/or perhaps you know someone who could be interested in this profoundly helpful event.
